Tyler Renner, a 2008 Malone graduate (Integrated Social Studies), was a four-year member of the Pioneer men's basketball team. A 2003 graduate of Garaway High School, Renner earned a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Ashland University.
A three-time NCCAA All-American and four-time American Mideast Conference honoree, Renner averaged an impressive 17.6 points per game during his career and finished 11th on Malone's all-time scoring list with 1,777 career points.
He also ranks sixth on the Pioneers' rebounding list with 848 career boards (8.3 per game) and is tied for fourth all-time at Malone with 79 career blocked shots. Renner is one of only two players in program history to compile a combination of at least 1,600 points AND 800 career rebounds.
Renner and the Pioneers competed at the NCCAA National Tournament in 2007 and the junior forward was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team after helping Malone to a fifth-place finish at the event.
Then as a senior in 2008, Renner was voted to the NAIA Honorable Mention All-American Team as he led the Pioneers to a 21-10 final record and an AMC North Division Regular-Season Title.
Renner currently works as the Assistant Principal at West Holmes High School. He and his wife, Carol, reside in Sugarcreek, Ohio with their children: Anderson (3) and Emma (1).
