Tom Crank, a 1988 Malone graduate (Mathematics), was a four-year letterman in baseball at Malone and is currently in his fourth season as head coach of the Pioneer baseball program. A 1984 graduate of East Canton High School, Crank was a four-year starter in baseball and a three-year starter in both football and basketball. He was also a captain and the team MVP for both baseball and football as a senior. He was also inducted into the East Canton High School Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

At Malone, Crank was a four-year starter in baseball from 1985-1988 and was named captain and team MVP as a senior. Crank’s statistics as a senior were impressive as he posted a .412 batting average and earned First Team All-District, First Team All-Area, and NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors. In addition, he led his team to a 30-16 record, which at the time was tied for most wins in a season for the program. Among the career records, he held at the time of his graduation were hits (171), runs (125) and triples (10). He also held single-season records in hits (68), runs (49) and triples (7). Crank ranks second all-time in Malone’s “500 Club” (579 points), which takes into account runs, hits, walks, RBI’s and batting average.

Tom, who obtained a Master of Arts in Education from Malone in 1999, is President of Pioneer Financial Services, Inc. in Canton. He and his wife, Linda, and their two sons, Jonathon (13) and Joseph (9), reside in Louisville.

NOTE: The current Malone record for hits in a career is 269, and 87 for a single season. The current Malone record for runs in a career is 180, and 65 for a single season. The current Malone record for triples in a career is 13, and 8 for a single season. The current Malone record for most wins in a season is 47.
