Kim (Slone) Miller, a 2001 Malone graduate (Communications), was a four-year letter winner on the Pioneer volleyball team and also played two seasons of softball at Malone. She is also a 1997 graduate of Willard High School.
As an outside hitter in volleyball, Miller earned All Mid-Ohio Conference Second Team honors as a freshman and was also named MOC Freshman of the Year. She then went on to earn three All-AMC First Team honors, including an AMC Player of the Year accolade as a senior. Miller was also a three-time NCCAA East Region First Team winner, including earning the East Region Player of the Year honor as a senior. In addition, she was a two-time NCCAA All-American (Second Team in '99, First Team in '00) and earned the NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete awards as a senior as well.
She helped paced the 1998 team to a 31-12 record, the 1999 squad to a 29-11 record (including a spot in the NAIA Region IX semifinals) and the 2000 team to a 30-14 mark as the Pioneers won the AMC regular-season title and captured their first-ever NCCAA East Region Championship. During her four years at Malone, the Pioneers posted a record of 105-55.
For her career, she still ranks second all-time at Malone in attack percentage (.282), third in kills (1,960), third in kills per set (3.66), fourth in attack attempts (4,980), fifth in digs (1,956), seventh in points (2,177) and third in points per set (4.07). In the Malone single-season all-time record book, Miller still appears twice in the top-ten rankings for total kills, kills per set, attack percentage, attack attempts and total points and once in digs and points per set.
In softball, Miller played two seasons (freshman and sophomore year) in the outfield and at third base, posting .429 and .375 batting averages, respectively, which were second-best on the squad each year. She earned All AMC First Team honors as a freshman and was a two-time NCCAA East Region Team selection.
Miller is currently employed as the Chrysler Account Manager for the Laird Technologies Company. She and her husband, Paul, reside in Howell, Michigan.
