A 1989 graduate of Zanesville High School, Wentworth posted a stellar high school career in both cross country and track & field. He was a three-time AAA state qualifier in cross country, an AAA All-Ohio selection in cross country and multiple conferences, district and regional award recipient in cross country and track and field. He was also a two-time AAA state champion in the 3200 meters. At Malone, he became only the second Malone men’s cross country athlete to earn four NAIA All-America honors. In track & field, he is a multiple NAIA Indoor and Outdoor All-American and still holds the school record in the 1500 meters (3:50.4), 5000 meters (13:53) and indoor one-mile run (4:10). He is also a multiple NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete recipient.
