Dinah (Garrott) Gonzalez, a 1992 Malone graduate (Physical Education), competed as a senior on the Pioneer softball team in its first year of competition in the spring of 1992 and also was a four-year letter winner in track & field (shot put, discus and javelin) and two-year letter winner in volleyball. A 1986 graduate of Louisville High School, Gonzalez competed in volleyball and track & field and earned numerous team MVP awards and, in volleyball, was named Second Team All-Federal League and All-County Honorable Mention.

In softball at Malone, Gonzalez posted an impressive .506 batting average (which still holds as the school record) in her lone season on the team. She also was named her team’s Most Outstanding Player and was an NAIA District 22 Player of the Week recipient and an NAIA All-District 22 selection.

Gonzalez, a homemaker, is married to Rafael Gonzalez, who also happens to serve as an assistant coach on the Malone volleyball team. They have one daughter, Gabriella Rosa (two years old), and reside in Canton.
