Hall of Fame
Dave Fross, one of only three charter members of the Malone University Athletic of Fame, was a key player for four years in both basketball and baseball for the Pioneers. A multi-time team captain and MVP on both the basketball court and baseball diamond, he was also a member of the golf team that played in the NAIA Finals.Â
After his playing days, he went on to serve as the lead assistant basketball coach from 1971-1972, and the Pioneers' head baseball coach in 1972. That baseball team posted a 28-8-1 record, and went on to win the conference championship.Â
Fross earned his B.A. degree from Malone in Psychology, English, and Physical Education.
He met his 38-year soulmate, the late Sharon Fross at Malone.
Fross is a member of six Halls of Fame: Malone University; University of Akron; Stark County; Summit County; Wayne Country; Akron Area. He is the winningest coach in the history of the University of Akron in any sport (746 wins), and coached well over half of Akron's victories in the 125+year-history of the baseball program.Â
He also helped the Zips win championships in three different conferences (including the MAC)
