Ed Harris, Jr., a 1995 Malone graduate (Physical Education), was a four-year letter winner in track & field and cross country at Malone. A 1989 graduate of Zanesville High School, Harris was only the second athlete from the high school to become a state qualifier in the 1600 and 3200 meters. He earned All-Ohio honors in the 3200 meters and competed in the Midwest Meet of Champions for both cross country and track and field. While at Malone, Harris competed in an incredible 11 of a possible 12 NAIA national meets among indoor and outdoor track & field and cross country. A seven-time NAIA All-American, he earned three All-America honors in cross country and four in track & field, including the indoor three-mile, the 5000 meters and the 10,000 meters (twice). Only one athlete in the history of Malone College (Dave Gramlich - 10) has more NAIA All-America honors to his credit than Harris, who is tied with two others for second (Eric Ashton, Joe Yurkovich).

Harris won the individual national title at the 1992 NCCAA Cross Country National Championships and was the national runner-up at the 1991 meet. He also was the 1500-meter national champion at the 1992 NCCAA Outdoor National Championships.

Harris resides in Bolivar, Ohio and is employed by United Parcel Service. He and his wife, Brandi, have a four-month-old child, Miah.
