Dwayne Stanford
, a 1993 Malone graduate (Communications), was a four-year participant in track & field and a three-year letterman in basketball at Malone. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, Ohio, Stanford went on to become a tremendous two-sport athlete for the Pioneers and was a five-time NAIA track & field All-American earning that honor three times in the high jump, once in the indoor high jump and once in the 110-meter hurdles.

In 1990, Stanford set a Malone high jump record at the NCCAA national meet, clearing 7’2”, a school record that still stands today. Also that spring, he finished fourth in the high jump at the NAIA national meet for All-America honors. In 1991, at the NAIA indoor national meet, Stanford won the high jump national title with a leap of 7’2”, matching his own school mark. He later went on to earn All-America honors at the NAIA outdoor national meet that spring, in the high jump (3rd, 6’ 11 ¾”) and in the 110-meter high hurdles (6th, 14.80). As a senior, Stanford won the NAIA outdoor national title in the high jump (7’ 1/4”).

In basketball, Stanford was a member of two Malone teams that participated in NAIA national tournaments (1989-90 and 1991-92). He pulled down 362 total rebounds and tallied 577 total points for the Pioneers but even more impressive was his 61.1% (243-398) career field goal percentage.
