A 1986 graduate of Green High School, McClure competed in both track & field and basketball. As a senior, he placed second in the high jump at the Div. At Malone, McClure was and still is considered one of the top decathletes in school history and still holds the school record in the decathlon with 6863 points. He finished an impressive eighth in the decathlon at the 1987 NAIA national meet. In addition, he was the Mid-Ohio Conference record holder for most points scored in a meet (52) and earned numerous postseason accolades including NCCAA high jump national champion and NCCAA national runner-up in the javelin and long jump.

McClure, who earned an MSPE in Athletic Administration from Ohio University in 1992, first coached at John Carrol University. McClure is now the head men’s and women’s track & field coach at Malone University. He and his wife, Bonnie, and their three children, Collin (6), Conner (4) and Caden (1), reside in Uniontown.
