Phil Gebhardt, a 1993 Malone graduate (Business Administration & Liberal Arts), was a four-year letterman in basketball at Malone. A 1988 graduate of Wynford High School, Gebhardt was a two-time First Team All-State selection. As a junior, Gebhardt helped Wynford to a berth in the state finals and, as a senior, led the squad to a regional finals appearance. At Malone, he finished his career with 1984 points, which is currently 5th on the Pioneers’ all-time scoring list. Gebhardt also holds school records in three-pointers made in a game (10), season (156) and career (428) with the 428 career mark being an NAIA national record at the time.Â
Gebhardt holds the Malone record for free throw percentage in a season (.913) and for a career (.878, which was 5th in NAIA nationally at the time). He also holds the distinction of having played in more Malone contests than any other Pioneer at 139. Gebhardt was a member of Malone’s 1989-90 and 1991-92 teams which qualified for the NAIA national tournament. While Gebhardt was at Malone, the Pioneers posted an impressive 104-35 record (the most victories in any four-year span in Malone men’s basketball history).
Gebhardt, who is the owner of Gebhardt Financial, is married to wife, Brenda, and they have three children – Elle (8), Sammy (6) and Phillip (4). The Gebhardts reside in Sugarcreek, Ohio.
