Rick Mast, a 1996 Malone graduate (Business Administration), was a four-year letterman in basketball at the College and also played baseball for two seasons at Malone. A 1991 graduate of Waynedale High School, Mast was a three-year letterman in both basketball and baseball where he pocketed numerous honors and awards.
At Malone, Mast was truly outstanding on the hardwood and he still ranks15th on Malone’s all-time scoring list with 1485 points. Only seven Pioneer athletes have made more career free throws than his 379 and Mast’s 465 career rebounds ranks among the best among all Pioneer guards. In addition, Malone’s record during his tenure was an impressive 80-51. As a senior, after pacing his team in scoring at 16.4 points per game, he was selected First Team All Mid-Ohio Conference, All MOC Div. II and First Team NCCAA All-East District. He also earned NAIA All-America Honorable Mention honors as well that season. As a junior, he earned All MOC Div. II and NCCAA All-East District Second Team honors.

Mast is employed by Dutch Quality Stone in Mount Eaton, Ohio. He and his wife, Jewel, and their three children, Jade (6), Haley (3) and Tiana (6 months), reside in Apple Creek.
