Phil Hodge was a two-year starter and a highly productive player for Malone's Men's Basketball in the early 1970s. He transferred to Malone his junior year from Paducah (KY) Community College. He was a great scorer and rebounder. His quick-release jump shot was almost impossible to stop. Phil was a strong leader. In only 61 games, he ranks 50th on Malone's all-time scoring list with 938 points and 16th on the all-time rebounding list with 620 rebounds.

Hodge averaged a double-double during his two-year career at Malone, averaging 15.4 points a game and 10.2 rebounds a game. Hodge was All-MOC Team in 1972-73, and NAIA All-District 22 in 1972-73 and 1973-74. Hodge holds the Malone single-game record for the most rebounds in a game, pulling down 27 vs Ashland University, and also holds the school record for the most rebounds in a season with 431.
