Robert Wayne Starcher was enshrined into the Malone Athletic Hall of Fame on February 6, 1988. Starcher brought recognition to Malone through his coaching excellence in the United States as well as abroad. At Malone, his performance was outstanding. His 1973 team won the NAIA Area VI Title and played in the College World Series in Phoenix, Arizona. He coached over forty All-District players, three All-Americans, and seven players who went on to play professionally. StarcheTeam in the world tournament in Holland.

Showing dedication to the sport, Starcher served as the President of the NAIA Baseball Coaches Association from 1980-1982, and on the National Executive Board of the American Baseball Coaches Association from 1982-1985.

Starcher received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education at Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, IL in 1964. In 1967, he completed his Masters of Education degree in Physical Education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and then served as Head Baseball Coach at Olivet from 1967-1972.
