Day One Results
Through the first of two days at the Cumberland Trail Golf Classic, the Malone University women's golf team is currently in a three-way tie for sixth place among 15 teams at the par-72 course in Pataskala, Ohio.
The Pioneers combined to shoot a 324, just two strokes shy of the school-record round of 322 accomplished twice at the same course a season ago.
Sophomore
Christina Williams fired an opening-round 78 to lead Malone on day one of the event. She is tied for 18th among 83 competitors. Fellow sophomore
Lauren Griggy recorded three birdies on the front-9 on her way to an 80, tying the best round of her promising collegiate career. Griggy is tied for 24th.
Senior
Kelli Carroll was outstanding for Malone, shooting a collegiate-best round of 82. Caroll now sits in a tie for 30th. Freshman
Grace Bartlow rounded out the team scoring with an 84 while classmate
Madison Justice was close behind with an 88.
Malone is just 15 strokes back of leader Wayne State (MI) which carded a 309. Tournament host Ohio Dominican is tied for second at 310 along with Saginaw Valley. Maryville (312) and Gannon (313) are also ahead of the Pioneers who are tied with Midwest Region rivals Ashland and Ferris State.
Round two of the event will begin on Sunday at 9:00 am.

The Malone "B" Team also competed on Saturday in the one-day Westminster College Invitational in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

Rachel Russell led the Malone contingency with a 91. Freshmen

Michelle Lori posted a 95 to complete the team scoring while freshman
Aubrey Rossano carded a 99.
