GREENVILLE, S.C. - Junior
Maria Warner of the Malone University women's golf team has been named the NCCAA Athlete of the Week following a pair of tournaments in Malone women's golf opening week.
Â
Warner, a native of Alliance, Ohio, had a sensational tournament at the UC Invitational in Charleston, West Virginia. She led Malone to an eighth-place finish and tied for fourth on the player leaderboard with a score of 149 (75-74).
Â
74 is a new collegiate low for the junior and is the fourth-lowest score in program history. Her two-round total of 149 is the fifth-lowest score for the Pioneers and the lowest score of anyone aside from 2022 graduate
Christina Williams. As a team, Malone had a score of 312 in both rounds, which is tied for the fifth-best mark in program history.
Â
Warner also competed for the Pioneers at the Champions of Women's Golf Classic. She finished that two-day tournament at 168 (83-85).
Â
Up next, Malone competes at the Battle at Stonehenge hosted by Grace College on September 29-30.
