Malone Women's Golf Inks Two New Recruits for 2026-27

11/25/25

CANTON, Ohio - Head Coach Bill Eddins and the Malone University women's golf team have announced two new signings to the program for the 2026-27 academic year. Caylee Lattimer and Brielle Starnes are joining the program in the upcoming fall.

The Newark Catholic High School sensation Lattimer signed her intent to continue her academic and athletic career as a Pioneer with the support of her parents Clay and Amber Lattimer. Her outstanding resume of honors and accomplishments is impressive as she was the first player in Newark Catholic history to place at the Ohio High School Athletic Association  (OHSAA) State Girls' Golf Tournament. Lattimer earned Second Team All-State honors at the 2025 state tournament in Springboro at Heatherwoode Golf Club.

She was a four-year member of the varsity golf team and team captain and earned All-Licking County League (LCL) in three consecutive years. Lattimer was tabbed as this year's LCL Player of the Year and named to the All-District First team as well under coach Doug Ryen.

Beyond the golf course, she excels in the classroom with an exceptional 3.9 GPA and is a three-year Honor Roll student. Lattimer plans to major in accounting at Malone. Additionally, she is National Honor Society President, a student leader of Kairos, a four-year member of Student Council and a three-year member of Key Club. Lattimer is very active in her community and has logged over 80 hours of community service in the past two years. She is a four-year varsity cheerleader as well and her team made the state finals and finished in sixth place overall.

"As great of a golfer as she is, Caylee is an even better person," Coach Eddins said. "She wears her faith on her sleeve and is mature beyond her years. She is a great fit for our university and our golf program and immediately makes us better."

Hilliard Darby High School's number one player, Brielle Starnes, has officially signed to continue her academic and athletic career as a Pioneer as well. The Panthers are coached by Brian White and Starnes' parents are Brian and Kelli Starnes.

Starnes had an outstanding four-year career and is coming off an excellent senior season that culminated as a OHSAA Division I District Qualifier in the ultra-competitive Oakhaven Sectional Championship in central Ohio. In 2023, she won the Division I Sectional at Pickaway Country Club with a 33-43 for an exceptional 76! This year, Starnes shot a gritty 79 at Sectionals and advanced to District play in a loaded field of players. At the Echo Springs Division I state qualifier, one of the best in Ohio, Brielle shot a solid 82 in the highly competitive field.

Starnes has won the respected "Hilliard Cup", a tri-match of the three Hilliard high school teams, for three consecutive years. For her efforts this season, Starnes earned First Team All-Ohio Capital Conference (OCC Cardinal Division) as a result of her consistent and outstanding play. Starnes' low round of the season was a 71. She owns the school record for a low 9-hole round with a 3-under par score of 33. This past summer, Starnes dominated and won the Turnberry Junior Girls Classic with a two-day total of 153 (+7), including a 1-under par score of 72 on the second day. Starnes was impressive and sank six birdies to lead the field of play and tied for most pars with 18 in the 36-hole tournament.

Academically, Starnes is Summa Cum Laude, in the Top 10% of students at Darby and will major in criminology at Malone. A member of Honor Roll and NHS, Starnes is a member of Philanthropy Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at the Golf Room where she is a frequent volunteer for the Golf Room Future Champions (ages 5-12).

"Brielle is so talented and has a lot of momentum coming off a tremendous career and season where she had great success," Coach Eddins stated. "Bri is an extremely hard worker and she will only continue to get better and better with her work ethic and determination. She is an exceptional young lady and a great Malone fit."
