WEST END, N.C. -- The Malone University women's golf team opened up the spring portion of their season with the Golden Knight Carolina Classic hosted by Gannon University at the Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club on Friday and Saturday. 

The Pioneers slotted in at eighth place overall in the eleven-team field with a 36-hole team score of 734. 

The event was won by the host Gannon University with their team score of 649.
