Final Results
The Malone University women's golf team registered a round of 340 on Saturday to earn a sixth-place finish among 11 teams at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.
Sophomore
Christina Williams led the way for the Pioneers at the University Club of Kentucky's Wildcat Course, carding a three-over-par 74 to finish in a tie for second overall and claim All-Conference honors. Williams posted rounds of 75 and 80 Friday to go with her 74 Saturday for a 54-hole total of 229. She tied for second with the University of Findlay's Makenzie Torres. Torres' teammate, Meredith Wipper, fired a one-under-par 70 on Saturday to take home medalist honors with a 224.
The G-MAC All-Conference Award is the second of Williams' career as she also earned the distinction as a freshman last spring.
After posting team scores of 353 and 362 on Friday, the Pioneers improved their score over the final 18 holes on Saturday to finish at 1055. Findlay, ranked 15th in the most recent National Poll, placed first at 932. Tiffin University was second at 965 and Walsh University was third at 995.
Lauren Griggy finished in a tie for 26th among 56 competitors. She recorded a round of 85 on Saturday which included a birdie on the fourth hole, a 378-yard par four. Griggy posted a total of 261 for the three rounds (84-92-85), finishing just outside the Top 25.
Samantha Tinsley tallied a 90 on Saturday to finish in a tie for 38th with a 282 (95-97-90). Â
Kelli Carroll was right behind Tinsely, notching a 91 on Saturday to end the event in 41st at 283 (99-93-91).Â
Michelle Lori followed in 45th place. She also carded a 91 on Saturday to conclude the weekend with a 299 (103-105-91).
Madison Justice also competed as an individual for Malone. She fired a season-best 77 on Saturday and placed 21st overall with a 250 (85-88-77).
