The Malone University women's golf team closed out its fall season at the Music City Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday.
After firing a school-record score of 321 on Monday, the Pioneers carded a round of 348 during the final round to finish 17th overall.
"It was a tough round today," commented Malone head coach
Bill Eddins. "The greens were lightning fast, the pin placements were really challenging and we just didn't play very well, We will build on an experience like this and be better for it."
The University of Indianapolis, the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II, fired a 291 on Tuesday to secure a first-place finish with a two-day total of 592 (301-291). NCAA Division II No. 6 Grand Valley State University was second with a 599 (297-291) and Carson Newman University was third with a 617 (305-312).
Christina Williams finished the event in a tie for 34th with a score of 160 (74-86).
Kelli Carroll was next for Malone, tying for 60th with a total of 167 (82-85).
Lauren Griggy and
Madison Justice tied for 74th at 172. Griggy registered rounds of 81 and 91 while Justice notched scores of 84 and 88.
Michelle Lori was close behind, tying for 79th with a 174 (85-89).
The Pioneers will return to competition in March with a full schedule of spring events.
