McCartney, a sophomore from Toledo, Ohio (Toledo Central Catholic H.S.), won the men's 8K race at the Slippery Rock University Invitational on Saturday with a time of 26:12.

McCartney topped 73 other competitors to capture the overall victory, leading the Pioneers to a first-place team finish among the seven squads in the field.
