Pioneers Tied for Fourth Through Two Rounds at Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Malone University golf team had a strong showing on Monday at the Kyle Ryman Memorial, hosted by Tiffin University at the Mohawk Golf Course. The Pioneers are tied for fourth on the leaderboard through 36 of the 54 holes at 590 (291-299). The Indiana University of Pennsylvania claimed a commanding lead with a strong second round at 558 (282-276).
 
Jaxon Rinkes put together an even-par second round to climb to 17th with a total score of 146 (74-72). The junior was 2-under the second time through the front nine and finished the day with five birdies. Carter Miller was just behind at 148 (73-75) and is tied for 22nd. His second round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole and he was even-par on the front nine in both the first and second rounds.
 
Ryan Yoder was inside the top five after a phenomenal round one, but sits in a tie for 26th with a total score of 150 (70-80). He went 2-under with three birdies and one bogey in the first round, but lost steam as the day went on. Fletcher Cravens had an up-and-down day that saw him go 1-under on the front nine in round one, but completed the day at 151 (74-77). Easton Hamrick had the same score of 151 (76-75) with four birdies in total.
 
Competing as an individual, Brady Johnson scored a 157 (82-75) but took seven strokes off his first round score the second time around the course. He had four birdies in the second round.
 
The third and final round will take place on Tuesday, October 7.
