Malone Struggles at Sunnehanna Collegiate

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Malone University men's golf team competed in rounds one and two at the Sunnehanna Collegiate on Monday. The Pioneers tallied ten birdies in each round, but could not keep up with the competition in 17th place.
 
Malone had a total team score of 593 (296-297) on the par-70 Sunnehanna Country Club. Gannon University shot a 4-under 556 (277-279) to take a commanding lead in the clubhouse with 18 holes remaining.
 
Carter Miller had the lowest score for the Pioneers with a 71 in the first round and 74 in the second (145). He had eight birdies on the day and shot no higher than a bogey over the 36 holes on Monday. Miller is 49th individually.
 
Ryan Yoder scored a 148 with a 74 in each round. The sophomore was very consistent with 14 pars in round one and he hit for par on all nine holes on the front in the second round. Easton Hamrick was just behind at 149 (75-74) and took one stroke off his total from round one to round two. He had three birdies and scored par on the final six holes of the day.
 
Jaxon Rinkes improved as the day went on, but finished at 151 (76-75). He had three birdies on his scorecard for the day. Alfie Cracker fired a 156 (77-79) with a pair of birdies. Competing as an individual, Caden Boyd wrapped up play at 155 (78-77) with three birdies.
 
The Sunnehanna Collegiate concludes with round three on Tuesday, September 30.
