Prior to Malone
Johnson is a transfer from Stark State College but played four years of varsity golf at Manchester High School as a 2024 graduate. He was an All-Conference honoree in the PAC-7 and was the individual medalist at the league championship event. The Manchester Panthers were PAC-7 champions in 2023 and 2024, and the team qualified for the OHSAA State Tournament for the first time in school history in 2024. Along with his success on the course, Johnson was also a four-year letterman in baseball as a centerfielder and pitcher as well as a two-year varsity basketball player. He was an All-Conference representative in both sports and First Team All-District in golf, basketball and baseball his senior year. In the classroom, Johnson is a four-year Academic Award winner and was a member of National Honor Society.
