The Malone University men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's Outdoor Championship Meet on Saturday at Cedarville University.

Both Pioneer squads secured runner-up finishes in their first appearance at the G-MAC Outdoor Meet.  Just like at the Indoor Championships in February, Malone's Ashton Dulin, Duke Taylor and Ja'Vonne Brashears swept the conference's Men's Athlete of the Year Awards.

Dulin was named the G-MAC Track Athlete of the Year after another outstanding performance.  On Saturday, the sophomore smashed the conference's meet record in the 400-meter hurdles after clocking a winning time of 52.44 seconds.  Dulin also brought home runner-up finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (14.63 seconds), the 100-meter dash (10.73 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (22.28 seconds).  On Friday, he won the long jump competition with a new G-MAC record.  In total, he surpassed five G-MAC Championship Meet records over the two days of competition while accounting for a whopping 44 points.

As he has done throughout 2016-17, Taylor continued his domination of the G-MAC throwing events at the Outdoor Championships, earning the conference's Field Athlete of the Year Award.  He crushed the meet record in the discus on Saturday by over 13 meters with a winning toss of 175'5" (53.48 meters).  On Friday, Taylor broke the G-MAC meet record in the hammer throw by nearly 15 meters while also registering a second-place finish in the shot put.

Just like at the G-MAC Indoor Meet, Brashears was tabbed as the conference's Freshman of the Year.  On Saturday, Brashears won the triple jump with a new G-MAC record of 45' 7" (13.89 meters).  The performance moved the Springfield, Ohio native up to fourth on the Pioneers' all-time list.  Brashears also collected a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash (10.81 seconds) and teamed up with Desmond Sallee, Orlando Scott and Lawrence McCollum to place third in the 4 x 100-meter relay (42.80 seconds).  On top of his outstanding showing on Saturday, Brashears also collected a third-place finish in the long jump on Friday afternoon (21'6.76").
