Volleyball Pockets Two Wins On Final Day Of Lock Haven Tourney

Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Slauterbeck posted a team-best 12 kills in Malone's 3-0 win against Long Island-Post (NY) and added four more kills in the team's 3-0 victory over Dominican (NY).

After posting a 1-1 record on Friday at the Lock Haven (PA) University Tournament, the Malone University volleyball team closed out the tournament on Saturday with a pair of 3-0 victories against its opponents.  In the morning match, the Pioneers defeated Long Island - Post (NY) University 25-18, 25-9, 25-17 and then followed that up with an afternoon victory over Dominican (NY) University by the score of 25-16, 25-21, 25-14.

With the pair of Saturday wins, Malone extended its win streak to three matches and improved its record to 3-2 overall on the season.

Against Long Island - Post, outside hitter Taylor Slauterbeck led the offensive attack with an impressive team-best 12 kills in the match.  Middle hitter Hannah Haver drilled eight kills while outside hitter Anna Hays blasted six kills. Outside hitter Kimberly McCracken tossed up a team-high four service aces while defensive specialist Allison Kirby paced the team in digs with seven.  Setter Jackie Schwamberger offered up a total of 28 assists for the match.

In the Dominican match, middle hitter Diana Wallace pounded a team-best nine kills while middle hitter Lauren Townley followed with eight kills while adding three digs and four block assists. Schwamberger not only tossed up another 28 assists in this match but also added six kills, six digs, four service aces and two block assists.  In addition, Haver added six kills, one service ace and three block assists to the Pioneer cause.

Malone will next compete in its first-ever GLIAC match -- at Tiffin University on Thursday in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
