The Malone University volleyball team topped Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in four sets on Tuesday night at Osborne Hall. The Pioneers claimed the first two sets of the evening by scores of 25-16 and 25-12. MVNU held on for a 25-22 triumph in the third frame before Malone secured the match with a 25-18 triumph in set four. The Pioneers' overall record improved to 12-7 with the victory while the Cougars slipped to 9-12.

Hannah Haver led the way for the Pioneers with 12 kills, eight digs and five blocks (three solo). Middle hitter
Diana Wallace followed with 11 kills and three blocks (one solo). Outside hitter
Taylor Slauterbeck posted nine kills and three service aces. Outside hitter
Megan Fisher and middle hitter
Lauren Townley each registered eight kills apiece. Townley also contributed three service aces and four block assists. Setter
Jackie Schwamberger also made substantial contributions, dishing out 38 assists, scooping up a team-high 12 digs and ripping six kills.
Malone will be back in action at home on Wednesday evening with a 7:00 p.m. match against NCAA Division II Tiffin University (3-10 overall). The Pioneers will be looking to push their record to 2-0 against the Dragons this season. In the previous meeting between the two squads (at Tiffin on Sept. 6th), Malone notched a 25-20, 25-17, 25-16 victory.
