Carr, a freshman sprinter from Massillon, Ohio (Perry H.S.), made an impressive debut at Kent State University's Golden Flash Gala on Saturday, breaking Malone's 300-meter record in her first collegiate meet.

Carr posted a time of 41.89 seconds to surpass Vallie Scott's 2007 record of 42.07 seconds.

Carr placed sixth among the 19 entrants in the race, posting the top time among non-Division I competitors.
