Blasiole, a running back from Uniontown, Ohio, established a new Malone single-game record on Saturday by piling up 279 rushing yards in the Pioneers' narrow 27-24 overtime loss to Tiffin University.
The sophomore from Lake High School, who averaged 11.6 yards per carry and scored a total of three touchdowns on the afternoon, broke the record during overtime, edging the previous mark of 277 yards that was set by Bernard Payton in a 2006 victory over rival Walsh University.
Blasiole currently leads the GLIAC and ranks fourth in NCAA Division II with eight rushing touchdowns on the season. He also leads the conference (ranks 11th in the nation) with 513 total rushing yards.
