Mast, a junior shortstop from Winesburg, Ohio, closed out the regular season on a strong note, batting .471 (8-for-17) last week with five runs scored, a homer and two RBI's.Â
He notched a game-tying, two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning at NCAA Division I Akron on Tuesday. Mast then helped the Pioneers split their four-game series against NCAA DII #13 Grand Valley State over the weekend, tallying two hits in each of Malone's final three games against the Lakers.Â
Mast, who did not commit an error in 20 fielding chances last week, is batting a team-best .342 on the season and currenlty ranks fifth in the GLIAC with 43 runs scored.
Malone will compete as the No. 5 seed in this week's six-team GLIAC Postseason Tournament.
