ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Malone University cross country team traveled to Romeoville, Illinois on Saturday for the Lewis Crossover. The women ran a 6k and placed 29th overall and the men ran an 8k and placed 24th overall. The meet included an abundance of nationally ranked schools.
Finishing first for the Pioneers on the women's side was
Rebekah Stoneman with a time of 23:37.1, a new personal best.
Kristin Yeager was the next Malone student-athlete to finish at 23:43.0. Behind her were
Jenna Cassidy (24:11.4),
Rachel Whetstone (24:17.2) and
Olivia Szmania (24:55.2).
For the men,
Hayden Schmidt finished first for the Pioneers in 74th place with a 25:10.8 finish time.
Wyatt Royster (25:34.6) earned a personal record in the 8k and was second for the Malone men. Close behind him was
Yahya Jawadi running a 25:36.3 also earning a PR.
Alex Hill ran a 25:41.3 and
Xander Heil a 25:46.4 to conclude scoring members.
Up next, Malone travels to Midland, Michigan for the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. Races will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 25.
