GREENVILLE, S.C. - Senior Hayden Schmidt of the Malone University men's cross country team has received the NCCAA Athlete of the Week award.
 
It is the first career NCCAA Athlete of the Week award for the Sidney, Ohio native and the first national weekly award for the Pioneers in men's cross country since Lucas Clark in 2021.
 
Schmidt ran at the Lewis Crossover last weekend, one of the premiere regular season meets. He ran a time of 25:10.8 in the 8k race to pace Malone. Schmidt placed 74th overall in a field filled with nationally-ranked opponents. The Pioneers were 24th as a team.
 
Malone's next meet will be for a conference championship at Northwood University. The Timberwolves host the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championships on Saturday, October 25 beginning at 10:30 A.M.
