Great Midwest Athletic Conference Release
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- On Monday, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced the Baseball Athletes of the Week.
The Malone University Pioneers swept both awards in the North Division with junior right-hander
Mitch Maurer bringing home the G-MAC North Division Pitcher of the Week, and graduate catcher
Clayton Criss being named the G-MAC North Division Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Maurer toed the rubber for eight complete innings in Thursday's 3-2 win over Concordia University, St. Paul. He scattered five hits for only one earned run, and also struck out seven batters.
That effort brought his season ERA down to 3.68. He is currently tied with
Devin Norton for the Malone lead with 26 strikeouts this season.
At the plate Criss posted a .583 batting average. He recorded hits in 7 of his 12 at bats. He had multiple RBIs in all three of the games, including three in Thursday's 6-4 win over Southwest Minnesota State University.
Criss currently has a .440 batting average on the season.
