St. Cloud State Tops Malone 8-3 on Wednesday

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- After having Tuesday off, the Malone University baseball team returned to Chain O' Lakes Park on Wednesday for a game against St. Cloud State University.

The Huskies (6-5, 0-0 NSIC) used a big bottom of the fifth inning to get past the Pioneers (7-5, 0-0 G-MAC).

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
St. Cloud opened up the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first.

They went on to score five more unanswered runs to push their lead out to 8-0 heading into the seventh inning.

Malone's offense got some things going in the top of the eighth.

Andrew Hanna and Tyson Gingerich each singled to start the inning. Hanna came around to score on a St. Cloud error. Gingerich was brought home on Cameron Martin's tenth RBI of the season to make it an 8-2 game.

Tyler Jackson worked around a leadoff triple to keep the Huskies off the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning.

The Pioneers continued to rally in the ninth. Hanna singled home Evan Balzano to make it 8-3 game, but ultimately St. Cloud was able to get out of the inning and pick up the win.
