Biography

2020: In a Coronavirus-shortened 2020 season, Gingerich and started all 12 games at second base... Batted .286 (10-for-35) with a team-high two triples, seven RBIs and a team-high eight runs scored... Gingerich had a Pioneer-best four multi-hit games, including a three-hit, four RBI game versus Assumption (3/9/20)... Held a slugging percentage of .400... Tied for a team-high with eight bases on balls and had an on-base percentage of .444... Was a perfect 7-for-7 on stolen bases... Made 25 putouts with 30 assists defensively.

2019: Gingerich played in and started 50 games during his redshirt freshman season, including 48 at shortstop and two at second base…Batted .269 with 50 hits, including 10 doubles…Led Malone in runs (41), stolen bases (14), and sacrifices (9) while producing 25 RBI…Finished second on the team with 28 walks and registered a .368 OBP…Carried a team-long 21-game reached-base streak from March 4th to April 1st, on which date he delivered a walk-off two run single to defeat Lake Erie 3-2…Reached base via hit or walk in 45 of 50 games…Collected first collegiate hit against Quincy (2/22/19)…Produced 11 multi-hit games, including a season-high three hits against Rollins (3/8/19)…Registered six multi-RBI performances, including a season-high three RBI versus Assumption (3/9/19)…Scored a season-high three runs against Eckerd (3/6/19) and Alderson Broaddus (4/13/19)

2018: Did not play (redshirt)

Prior to Malone: Gingerich starred at second base for a Berlin Hiland team that went to back-to-back state championships and claimed the 2016 Division III title. He earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio accolades as a senior after hitting .412. He was also named First Team All-District, First Team All-IVC, and was the Wooster Daily Record Player of the Year.
