Women's Golf Tees-Off Spring Season at Saddlebrook

03/12/22

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. -- The Malone Women's Golf team traveled south and participated in the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff hosted by Walsh University this past week.

The Pioneers were led by 5th year graduate student Christina Williams who shot a 247 in the three-day 54 hole event. Christina averaged an 82 in her three rounds. She paced the Pioneers with six birdies in the tournament.

Junior Jocelyn Troyer, in her continued comeback from torn labrum surgery, showed great promise following close behind Williams with a three-day total of 250 and an 83 average. Her tournament low round on day two included breaking back in the 70's with a 79.

Troyer finished with three birdies for the tournament.

Senior Samantha Tinsley finished with a 264 total over three days highlighted by her low round of 81 on day two that included an outstanding 14 pars and only 30 putts.

Fellow senior Hunter Farrell, who came in low on day three with an 85, finished with a three-day total 268. Hunter's play was highlighted by a beautiful chip-in birdie on the scenic par-5 14th.

Freshman Anastasia Nikolaidis shot a 279 in 54 holes. Boo had four birdies and finished strong on day three with a great seven-hole stretch of six pars and a birdie to gain momentum going forward.

Junior Morgan Zaccarine rounded out Malone scoring with a 286. Morgan had three birdies herself including a near "eagle" on the par-5 7th hole.

The Pioneers continue their quest for post-season glory when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky, next weekend to compete in the University of Findlay Invite at UK's Big Blue, site of this year's G-MAC Championships in mid-April.
