Malone University Athletics

Junior Season (2020-21): Tinsley tied for most holes and rounds with 396 and 22. Finished with 14 birdies and 167 pars. Putting average was career best 32.73. Posted career best score of 80 and had career best 84.95 season average.

Sophomore Season (2019-20): Tinsley played 10 rounds for the Pioneers in the fall of 2019. Sam had 69 pars and averaged over 9 fairways per round. Sam averaged 36.9 putts and finished with a season average of 86.4. She had a Top-20 finish at the Evann Parker Memorial after back-to-back rounds of 86. Sam posted a season-best 84 at the Cumberland Trail Classic and is part of the team that broke 18 and 36 hole school records (304/615) at that event. Spring 2020 was cancelled due to coronavirus.

Freshman Season (2018-19): Tinsley played 12 rounds (216 holes) during her freshman season with the Pioneers. She finished with a 91.8 scoring average, including nine birdies and 57 pars. She also averaged nearly 8 hit fairways and 5 GIR per round.  Sammy shot a collegiate-best 81 at the John Carroll University Shootout (4/6/19).

Biography: Samantha is the daughter of Pam and John Tinsley. Sam played for Coach Jason Thompson at Lisbon David Anderson High School. Sam is a Wildlife Biology major. Sam's best part of her golf game is her driver. She is looking forward to improving her chipping the most. Jordan Spieth is Sam's favorite professional golfer and Lexi Thompson is her favorite athlete. Her "dream course" is the Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay in Oahu, Hawaii. Sam's most influential people in her life are her mom and dad. Off the course, Sam loves Chick-Fil-A and Chili's. In her spare time, Sam enjoys reading, working out and hanging out with friends. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:2.

Prior To Malone: Tinsley was a four-year member of the Blue Devils' golf and softball teams.  She was the medalist at the 2017 Girls Sectional Tournament with a score of 76 and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the state tournament.  She was a First Team All-District honoree in girls golf and also earned Second Team Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference honors while competing for David Anderson's boys golf team in 2017.  In 2016, Tinsley garnered Second Team Inter Tri-County League accolades in boys golf.  In 2015, she garnered ITCL Honorable Mention recognition after helping David Anderson's boys golf team to a third-place team finish at the Sectional Tournament and a spot in the District Tournament.  Tinsley also excelled as a pitcher for the David Anderson softball team, having set the school record for wins in a season with 15 in 2016.  She was a three-time ITCL First Team honoree in softball and helped lead the Blue Devils to three straight sectional championships, in addition to a district title in 2016.  In the classroom, Tinsley was a four-year academic letter winner, a member of the National Honor Society, and serves as her class secretary.  She was also a 2017 Buckeye Girls State Delegate, and held a 4.1 grade point average.
