CANTON – The women's basketball team will begin their final road stretch of the 2021-2022 season as they travel to face the University of Findlay Oilers on Saturday afternoon.

Thursday's Second Half Comeback Win
On Thursday night, Malone overcame a 17 point third quarter deficit to beat Hillsdale College by a final score of 71-62 and the Pioneers won their fourth straight game in Osborne Hall.
Robin Campbell led all scorers with 22 points, ten of which came in the fourth quarter alone. Alexis Hutchison tacked on 17 points of her own as she went 5-13 from the field and 6-8 from the charity stripe. Emma Kallas secured her second double-double of the season with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
As a team, the Pioneers outscored the Chargers in almost every statistical category including points scored in the paint with a 44-30 advantage and points scored off the bench 13-5. Despite only scoring 8 points in the second quarter and trailing by 13 at the halftime break, the Pioneers outscored Hillsdale 48-26 in the second half, including their highest scoring quarter this season with 29 points in the final period as they held the Chargers to just 29.41% field goal percentage in the fourth.
With the win, Malone moved from 7th to 4th in the GMAC Women's Basketball Point Rating Ranking used to seed teams for the conference tournament.
Hardwood Series
Saturday will be the 34th overall meeting between the Findlay and Malone, with the Oilers holding a commanding 29-4 series lead.
The Pioneers came out victorious in the earlier meeting this season. Malone led the whole game, and while the Oilers came back in the fourth quarter, it was a block by Alexis Hutchison with a second left in the game to secure the win.
Robin Campbell (14), Hutchison (13), and Kelsey Swihart (11) all scored in double-digits. Hutchison led Malone by pulling down a game-high seven rebounds and Campbell dished out a game-high seven assists.
Prior to the win, the Pioneers had dropped seven in a row to Findlay.
Knowing Your Opponent
University of Findlay comes into Saturday's game after losing to Walsh University on Thursday night 80-64, ending a three-game win streak for the Oilers. While Findlay tied the game at 32 just three minutes into the third period, the Cavaliers went on a 15-3 run and secured the game.
Sydney Kin was the Oilers leading scoring as she scored 21 points and now sits in fourth on Findlay's all-time scoring list and her ten rebounds helped her jump up a spot to sit fourth on the all-time rebounding list, as well. Bridget Landin also secured a double-double with her 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Findlay has allowed their opponents to shot 38.2% placing them best in the conference. As a team, the Oilers have pulled down a total of 703 rebounds on the season and have the fourth best average per game with 35.2.
Looking Ahead
The rescheduled match up against Kentucky Wesleyan College on 2/14 has been cancelled, so the Pioneers will hit the court again on Thursday February 17 for their final road game of the season. Tip-off against the Tiffin Dragons is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
