Tom Eslich is a senior catcher on the Malone University baseball team from Navarre, Ohio and Massillon High School. He is the son of Patrick and Sharon Eslich.
During his career at Malone, Eslich played in 57 games, making 41 starts behind the dish while calling for one the best pitching staffs in the country. In those 41 starts, Malone went 28-13 and pitched six shutouts, including two postseason shutouts in 2017. He also gunned down 17-of-46 (37%) of potential base stealers.
Tom totaled 32 hits, including eight doubles, 17 runs scored, 18 runs batted in, and a .997 fielding percentage. In his first year as a Pioneer, he hit .299 with 12 RBI and had two hits and two RBI in his first collegiate game. After missing all of 2019 with injury, he returned to the diamond this year and collected his first collegiate triple in what was the final game of the season.
Tom's favorite memories as a Pioneer were the spring trips with teammates and coming back from Tommy John surgery and playing again this year.
Eslich majors in Early Childhood Education at Malone. After graduation he plans to work with his cousins' demolition business, Eslich Wrecking.
From coach Crank: "Thomas was a great addition to our catchers and our pitching staff. He became a very good defensive catcher and had some crucial at bats during his career at Malone. Thomas will be successful at whatever job he decides to pursue."
Congratulations Thomas!
