CANTON, Ohio -- The Malone University women's basketball team heads back out on the road this weekend as the Pioneers travel to Cedarville University on Saturday afternoon.
MALONE-CEDARVILLE HARDWOOD SERIES
Saturday will be the 50th meeting all-time between these two programs. Cedarville holds a lead in the overall series 15-34.
Malone won the last matchup, an 83-73 victory in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
The two teams actually split the regular season series last season, with the road team winning both games.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE PIONEERS
- Malone suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday night, in another game that was reshuffled on the schedule due to CoVID-19 protocols within the G-MAC. Malone was upended by Tiffin University 69-61.

Robin Campbell and Emma Kallas each had 13 points to lead Malone in scoring. Campbell was 3-4 from beyond the three-point arc. Meanwhile Kallas just missed out on a double-double, leading the team with nine rebounds.

Alexis Hutchison and Madison Hunter each had 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers for Malone.

Holly Groff leads the Pioneers, and is seventh overall in the league, averaging 17.0 points-per-game.

Hutchison's field-goal percentage of 55% is fifth best in the G-MAC.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
Although Cedarville opened up the year with a three-point loss at Ohio Dominican, the Yellow Jackets have won their last two games.
In their home opener on December 5, they scored a 91-75 win over the University of Findlay. They also scored an 85-75 win at Ursuline College on Wednesday night.
The Yellow Jackets are the only team in the G-MAC to have played three games so far this season, and their offense is clicking on all cylinders early on. Paced by 25.7 points from Ashlyn Huffman the team is averaging 89.3 points per game.
The Cedarville defense ranks near the middle of the G-MAC, as they surrender 81.7 points per game.

Looking ahead on the schedule, these two teams will turn around and immediately play again. Cedarville will travel to Malone on Wednesday, December 16 for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off inside Osborne Hall.
