Malone Notes
- The Pioneers are currently third in the G-MAC women's basketball point rating rankings. Of their five losses, only one has come against a team with a losing record. The other four losses are to teams with a combined 51-7 (.879) record.
- Malone overcame a poor shooting night in its win Monday by making 31 of 35 free throws (88.6%). As a team, MU ranks eighth in the nation in free throw percentage.
- Guards Holly Groff and Robin Campbell are both shooting better than 83% from the line and each rank among the top-10 in the G-MAC in scoring.
- Groff has scored at least 16 points in six straight games and has upped her scoring average of 16.1 points to fifth in the conference. No Pioneer woman has averaged 16 points a game since Nikki Parson (17.4) in the 2006-07 season.
- Campbell has scored 20 twice in the last four games and ranks ninth in the G-MAC with 15.3 a night. She also leads the team in assists.
- Senior forward Sydney Wentling is adding 9.7 points and a team-high 5.2 rebounds an outing.
- Classmate and frontcourt mate Ellen Doyle is averaging just a tick below Wentling with 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She's made at least one three-pointer in seven straight contests.
- Freshman guard Alexis Hutchison continues to make her presence felt on the defensive end, recording five consecutive games with at least two steals.
- Freshmen Emma Kallas, who scored a career-high 17 last Wednesday in a win over Waynesburg, and Jade Abdulla, who ranks third on the team assists (34) are making the most of their roles off of the bench.
- Defense has remained key this season for Malone, which ranks second in scoring defense. Over the past two seasons, opponents are just 1-16 when scoring under 60.
Ohio Valley Notes
- The Fighting Scots, who snapped a 62-game losing streak earlier this season, enter the weekend with losses in seven straight. They are averaging just 46 points over the last three games.
- Senior forward Imani Ward has been a bright spot for the team, averaging 17.0 points – third most in the G-MAC – and a conference-leading 9.0 rebounds per game.
Alderson Broaddus Notes
- The Battlers, who are scoring just 51.3 points over their last three games, employ a defense that ranks second in the G-MAC in blocked shots per game (3.8) and third in steals per game (10.3).
- When the two teams met last February, Alderson Broaddus totaled 12 steals in a narrow 60-57 defeat.
- Junior forward Hannah Henderson leads the team in scoring (14.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg).
