Malone University sophomore
Christina Williams trimmed four strokes off her opening-round score at the NCAA East Super Regional on Tuesday, carding a round of 75 to move into a tie for 19th overall.
After opening the event with a 79 on Monday at The Pearl Golf Club in Owensboro, Kentucky, Williams moved eight spots up the leaderboard with her three-over-par round. With 18 holes remaining on Wednesday, the Medina, Ohio native has a two-round total of 154 and is just one shot back of a Top 15 position.
Williams birdied the first hole of Tuesday's round, a 350-yard par 4. In all, she had just four bogies on the day and remains in strong contention for one of the four individual national-qualifying spots that will be awarded at the conclusion of the Super Regional.
The University of Indianapolis' Pilar Echeverria shot a 71 on Tuesday is currently first overall among 65 competitors with a total of 143. The University of Findlay's Meredith Wipper is second with a 145 while four players are tied for third with a 146.
In the team standings, Indianapolis maintained its day-one lead, now with a total of 588 through two rounds. Findlay has moved up to second at 594, Grand Valley State Univesity is third at 611 and the University of Missouri St. Louis is fourth with a 618.

The event concludes with the final round on Wednesday. The top four teams along with the top four individuals (who are not part of one of the national-qualifying teams) will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships which will be held May 14-18 at PGA National Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach, Florida.
