Williams Among Top 30 Following Opening Round Of NCAA Super Regional

Williams is tied for 27th overall among 65 competitors

Results

Malone University sophomore Christina Williams carded a score of 79 on Monday during the opening round of the NCAA Division II Women's Golf East Super Regional in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Williams, competing as an individual at The Pearl Golf Club, is currently tied for 27th among 65 competitors with her seven-over-par total. 

Leader Katie Chipman of Grand Valley State University was the only student-athlete to break par on the day as she carded a 71.  The University of Indianapolis' Pilar Echeverria and Anna Kramer are tied for second with scores of 72.

With the first of three rounds complete, Indianapolis leads the team standings at 292.  Grand Valley State is second with a 299, the University of Findlay is third with a 303 and the University of Missouri-St. Louis is fourth at 308.

Up Next:
The event continues with the second round on Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday.  The top four teams along with the top four individuals (who are not part of one of the national-qualifying teams) will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships which will be held May 14-18 at PGA National Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach, Florida.
