Four senior members of the 2018 Malone University football team were named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society when the organization announced its membership this week.
Matt Blasiole,
Marcus Moeller,
Matt Ramsey, and
JD Stamper were all selected for the prestigious honor which recognizes college football players who excelled both on the field and academically.Â

To be eligible for membership into the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, student-athletes must have completed their final year of eligibility, achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout their entire course of undergraduate study, and met all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree completion.

Running back
Matt Blasiole, also a semifinalist for the NFF's William V. Campbell Trophy last fall, carried a 3.46 GPA as an undergraduate in Accounting and Business Administration and is now pursuing his Master's. Blasiole, a Uniontown, Ohio native and Lake High School graduate, played in 41 career games for the Pioneers. He ranks among the top-five in Malone history in rushes (521), rushing yards (2,591), rushing touchdowns (27), total touchdowns (29), and all-purpose yards (3,382). During his career, he was named G-MAC All-Conference, GLIAC ALL-Conference, G-MAC All-Academic, GLIAC All-Academic, and Academic All-District.

Kicker and punter
Marcus Moeller maintained a 3.82 GPA in Business Administration and Marketing and is also pursuing his Master's. The Denmark native played in 38 career games and ranked second all-time at Malone in field goals (30) and PATs (82) and is the all-time leader in career punting average (38.6 yards per punt). During his career, Moeller was named All-Super Region 1, G-MAC All-Conference, and G-MAC All-Academic.

Matt Ramsey, of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Northwest High School, appeared in 31 career games, including 19 starts for the Pioneers as a linebacker and defensive end. In four seasons, he totaled 98 career tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. In the classroom, Ramsey maintained a 3.36 cumulative GPA in Middle Childhood Education.

JD Stamper of Mason, Ohio and Mason High School, played in 33 career games as a center and left guard for the Pioneers, including 29 consecutive starts over the last three seasons. Stamper was named G-MAC All-Conference following his sophomore and senior seasons. Playing center this past fall, he anchored an offensive unit which averaged 31.2 points and 397.2 yards per game. In the classroom, he carried 3.30 GPA as an Intervention Specialist Education major.
