Mallory Adams was selected as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) East Division Player of the Week on Monday following a standout performance at the Ashland Invitational. Now a three-time winner of the Award, Adams helped the Pioneers to a 2-2 record last weekend, including a win over 2017 NCAA Tournament qualifier Bellarmine University in Friday's opener.
Â
Adams, a native of Medina, Ohio and a Highland High School graduate, produced a robust .373 hitting percentage with 46 kills compared to just eight errors on 102 total attacks in 14 combined sets. For the week, she was second in the G-MAC East in both attacking and kills per set (3.29). Adams hit .478 in a win over Nova Southeastern on Saturday morning and .474 in Saturday's finale vs. Shippensburg.
Â
Defensively, the two-time G-MAC All-Conference selection collected 19 digs and 15 blocks, including four solo rejections. She ranked second in the Division in blocks per set (1.07) behind teammate
Hannah Eliason. In the win over Nova Southeastern, Adams recorded nine total blocks, one shy of a career-high.
Â
The 6'0" Adams surpassed 300 career blocks during Saturday's match and closed in on the 1,000 career kills milestone. At 997, she'll likely achieve the illustrious mark in the Pioneers' next match.
Â
Malone returns home this weekend to host the Hall of Fame City Challenge. The Pioneers will play Notre Dame College (OH) at 10:00 am on Friday, August 31st in the first of four weekend matches.
