Ashton Dulin Named Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Week

Dulin scored three touchdowns three different ways to earn the weekly conference honor.

Malone University senior wide receiver Ashton Dulin was selected as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Offensive Football Player of the Week on Monday following his exploits against unbeaten Tiffin University this past Saturday.

Dulin, a Reynoldsburg, Ohio native (Reynoldsburg H.S.), scored all three of the Pioneers' touchdowns in a 38-21 defeat. He got things started with a 99-yard kickoff return on the first play of the game, marking his school and G-MAC record third kickoff return touchdown of the season. The 99-yarder was tied for second longest in school history and the third longest in G-MAC history. With the return, he also became the first Pioneer and the first player in league history with three career return touchdowns.

Offensively, Dulin touched the ball just five times, but scored two touchdowns and racked up 163 yards from scrimmage. The All-American track athlete found the endzone on a 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 67-yard touchdown pass in the fourth. In doing so, he became the first player in conference history to record a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and a return touchdown in the same game.

The 6'2" wideout finished with four catches for 108 yards, which marked his first 100-yard receiving game of the season and the 10th of his career. Along with the 55 yards rushing and 131 return yards, all told, Dulin racked up 294 all-purpose yards, the second-most of his career and tied for fifth-most in school history.

Through five games this season, Dulin has 388 receiving yards on 27 receptions, 992 all-purpose yards, and 10 total touchdowns. He is tied for the NCAA Division II lead in kickoff return touchdowns and ranks fourth in return average (34.5 yards per return). Dulin is also fourth in the nation in all-purpose yards per game (198.4) and fourth in the nation in scoring (12.0 points per game). He is second in the G-MAC and 13th in DII in total touchdowns.

The G-MAC weekly football award was Dulin's first of his career. The two-time defending G-MAC Indoor and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year has won the award nine times in track.

Malone, now 1-4 on the season, will travel to Columbus to take on G-MAC power Ohio Dominican this Saturday, October 13th for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
