The Malone University baseball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Thursday night as the Pioneers suffered a 20-5 setback to St. Cloud State University under the lights of Kino Stadium in Tucson Arizona. With the loss, Malone dropped to 7-4 on the season.Â

The Pioneers claimed an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first when
Matt Noel drove in two with a two-out bloop double. From there, the Huskies potent lineup went on a tear. SCSU scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
Starting pitcher
Eric Mullet (1-1) was eventually chased after just an inning and a third, allowing eight runs on eight hits.
The Pioneers tallied two runs in the top of the second on a two-RBI single from
Joe Crank, but the Huskies scored four in the second, two in the fourth, and nine more in the fifth.
After an RBI double from
Michael Mathieu that made it 20-5 in the top of the seventh, the game was called after seven innings on a mercy rule.
Malone will be back in action on Friday against Northern State.
