Jade Smith wrapped up her outstanding collegiate cross country career on Saturday morning by earning NCAA Division II All-America recognition at the National Championship Meet in Evansville, Indiana.
Smith, a native of Uniontown, Ohio and a graduate of Lake High School, placed 20th among 247 competitors at the Angel Mounds course with a 6K time of 21:28.0.

She becomes the third NCAA All-American in Malone women's cross country history, joining Tina Oprean, who became the University's first NCAA All-American in 2013, and teammate
Hannah Campbell, who accomplished the feat as a sophomore in 2015.Â
In addition, Smith's 20th-place showing is the highest individual finish at the NCAA Women's National Championship Meet for a Pioneer as Oprean and Campbell both placed 38th in their respective races.
The Top 40 individual finishers in the men's and women's races each garner All-America accolades.
In total, Malone student-athletes have now collected
15 NCAA All-America Awards since the University became a full member of Division II during the summer of 2013.
Adams State University captured the women's National Championship on Saturday with a total of 126 points. The University of Mary was second at 137 and California Baptist University was third with 148 points.
The University of Alaska-Anchorage's Caroline Kurgat claimed the individual National Title after clocking an impressive time of 20:32.3.
