Baseball Preview Notes: Pioneers Open Conference Slate Against Lake Erie

Matt Davis currently ranks 7th in the GLIAC with a .652 slugging percentage.

The Malone University baseball team opens up Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) play with a pair of home-and-home doubleheaders this weekend when they take on fellow GLIAC South member Lake Erie College. The Pioneers will trek to Painesville, Ohio for two games on Friday, March 25th starting at 1:00 pm before hosting Lake Erie on Saturday, March 26th. Saturday's twinbill will be played at Schoonover Stadium on the campus of Kent State University. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm.

  • Outfielder Rutger Luebke (2HR, 7 RBI) is hitting .406 while Lucas Raley is hitting .381 and leads the team with 3 HR, 12 RBI, and 6 stolen bases
  • The Lake Erie pitching staff is holding opponents to a GLIAC-low .267 batting average against
  • David Lemasters (1-3, 4.29 ERA) leads the team with 24 strikeouts in 21 IP...reliever Michael Stryffeler (1-1, 1 SV) sports a team-best 1.64 ERA
