Stats
- The Pioneers are coming off a difficult loss to rivals Walsh on Saturday when they squandered a 14-point second-half lead and lost on a last-second layup. The last time Malone blew a lead that large was in December of 2013 when Lake Superior State came back from 18 down and won in similar fashion on a buzzer-beating jumper.
- Junior forward Baylen Dyrlund was one of three Pioneers in double-digit scoring on Saturday, leading the team with a career-high 18 points. On the season she is averaging 16.5 points a game while shooting 57.9% (11-of-19) from the field
- Rachel Goddard totaled 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds against Walsh for her first collegiate double-double of her illustrious career. The senior point guard has five assists in each of the first two games.
- Senior forward Hannah McCue also dished out five assists and scored eight of her 10 points against Walsh in the fourth quarter. Through two games, she is averaging 10.5 rebounds per game. No Pioneer has hauled in more than even eight a game since Lindsy Snyder averaged 9.0 in 2011-12.
- After being shutout in the opener, Chrissie Vaughan (9) and Alaina Schwarz (7) combined for 16 points and a trio of treys against Walsh. The sharp-shooting pair combined for 92 made three-pointers a season ago.
- For the second straight game, Malone received just four points from its bench. So far this season, the non-starters have shot just 2-for-17 from the field and 0-of-10 from three-point range.
- Despite the two losses, Malone has outrebounded both of its opponents this season. The Pioneers were 7-2 when outrebounding their opponents last season.
- In the 74-70 win over Findlay last February, the Pioneers outrebounded the Oilers 31-29. Rachel Goddard scored a season-high 24 points, including 15 in the second half to lead Malone to victory
