Eric Hehman is in his fifth season as the Pioneers' head coach and has tallied a 10-34 record at Malone. Prior to arriving in Canton, Hehman spent the previous five years as head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College where he led the Panthers to a 28-22 record and a berth in the 2009 NCCAA Victory Bowl.
Wayne State –
Paul Winters, now in his 11th season as the head coach of the Warriors, has compiled a 57-57 record at Wayne State. He was named the AFCA Division II National Coach of Year after a memorable 2011 campaign in which he led WSU to a 12-4 record and an appearance in the Division II National Championship Game. Prior to becoming the Warriors' head coach, Winters held assistant coach positions at the Univ. of Akron, the Univ. of Wisconsin and the Univ. of Toledo.

Malone Notes – The Pioneers suffered a 37-6 defeat in their home opener against Michigan Tech University on Saturday…The Huskies grabbed a quick 14-0 lead in the contest following two early Malone turnovers and then tacked on three more scores in the second quarter to take a commanding 35-0 halftime lead…Malone blocked a field goal and recovered two MTU fumbles in the second half but was unable to overcome the deficit…The Pioneers have struggled to take care of the football thus far in 2014, having committed 10 turnovers through the first two weeks of the season.

Justin Davis tallied 39 rushing yards and a TD in Saturday's contest…His two-yard TD plunge in the fourth quarter capped an 11-play, 86-yard scoring drive and marked the 11th touchdown of his Pioneer career…RB
Ronnie Beers helped fuel Malone's lengthy touchdown drive by tallying a 22-yard run and a 26-yard reception during the possession…QB

Colton Hale has blocked a field goal in each of Malone's first two games, marking the first time since 2011 that a individual Pioneer has blocked more than one kick in a single season.
Wayne State Notes – After dropping their season opener to Michigan Tech University on a last-second field goal, the Warriors bounced back in a big way last Saturday at home, knocking off 13th-ranked Carson Newman (TN) University by a final score of 41-31…Saturday's win snapped a seven-game losing streak for WSU that dated back to last season…Wayne State out-scored the Eagles 14-0 in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory with a late 80-yard TD drive…The two squads combined for over 600 rushing yards in Saturday's contest (340 for CNU, 274 for WSU)…Wayne State currently ranks fifth in the GLIAC in rushing with an average of 205 yards on the ground per outing.
Wayne State players to watch: RB Desmond Martin and WR Val Showers each collected GLIAC Player of the Week honors following the win over Carson-Newman, Martin on Offense and Showers on Special Teams…Martin posted career-highs for rushing attempts (30), rushing yards (235) and rushing touchdowns (3) in the victory...On the season, the senior has picked up 325 rushing yards on 54 attempts (6.0 yards per carry)… Showers eclipsed a Wayne State record with 191 kickoff return yards in Saturday's game, including an 87-yard runback for a TD…QB Carl Roscoe has completed 22 of 32 pass attempts this season for 367 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions…WR Michael Johnson has been Roscoe's main target with 172 receiving yards on nine catches, including three TD grabs…DB Zak Bielecki is the current GLIAC leader in tackles with a total of 24 through WSU's first two games.
